Congratulations on being pregnant! While looking ahead to the next 40 weeks might be overwhelming, knowing what to expect can make your pregnancy a fun and exciting event!
First Trimester (Week 1-Week 12)
The first trimester of a pregnancy is often the most interesting. Your body is getting accustomed to the life growing inside of it and you’ll be adjusting emotionally as well. You may feel nauseous, tired, have mood swings or feel back pain. Try to stay relaxed, as much as possible and get at least eight hours of sleep each night. Start eating healthier, take your vitamin and prepare your body for the long stretch of changes ahead. You’ll likely only gain about 4 pounds during this phase.
Second Trimester (Week 13-Week 26)
Most women enjoy the second trimester much more than the first, as morning sickness usually fades during this time. Women can expect to gain about 4 pounds per month and see their belly expanding with the life inside of it. Many women find out the sex of their baby via ultrasound during this phase of pregnancy. Common symptoms throughout the second trimester include body pains, leg cramps, skin changes and stretch marks.
Third Trimester (Week 27-Week 40)
The third trimester can be a very exciting time for a mother-to-be! There’s not much time left to prepare for the baby so bags should be packed and the nursery should almost be complete. The third trimester can bring on heartburn and mild swelling in the feet, hands and face. Mothers can also have trouble sleeping due to their changing body.
