Can I Choose the Sex of My Baby During Conception?

By Amber Ortega on December 19th, 2008

Many people wonder if they are able to do things to help determine the sex of their child during conception.  Although there is no sure fire way to ensure you end up with either a girl or boy, there are some things you can do to increase the odds. Now be aware…the mother has nothing to do with the sex of a child, this is all determined by the father’s sperm.

As I was told by many OB/GYNs, boys are quicker than girls.  So this being said, the y-sperm, which are the boys move much quicker than the x-sperm or girls.  The closer to ovulation that you have intercourse, the more likely you are to have a boy. If trying for a girl, only have intercourse up to three days before ovulation.

Now the pH of a woman’s body can make it difficult to conceive a boy.  A more acidic environment favors girls.  That being said, a woman’s tract is more acidic closer to the entrance…so….deeper penetration will favor boys…along with giving those over-achiever, fast boys a head start!

Position can assist with the above mentioned. The missionary position is recommended for girls and rear-entry or dog-style is recommended for boys.

When the woman has an orgasm, the pH changes, creating a more alkaline environment, which favors boys.  If you are trying for a girl, the woman should not have any orgasms.

Although these aren’t 100%, it is worth a try if you really have your heart set on having a boy or girl.  Good luck!
