Christmas Eve means leaving cookies and milk for Santa to sustain him on his whirlwind trip around the world for many families. But what about the reindeer? Santa munches away in each cozy house, while the reindeer sit up on the roof all cold and hungry. This year, why not leave a snack for Dasher, Donner, Blitzen, and the others?
Ingredients:
- 1 box shredded wheat cereal
- 1/2 container of oats
- 1/2 bag shredded coconut
- 1 small jar sprinkles or nonpareils (optional)
- 1 small jar of glitter (optional)
- Crush the shredded wheat.
- Add the remaining ingredients.
- Mix thoroughly.
You’ll have enough reindeer food for several kids to feed their furry friends on Christmas Eve.
You can make an adorable reindeer bag for your reindeer food, too!
- Fold the top corners of a brown lunch bag down so that they meet in the middle.
- Fold the top down over the edges. You’ll have an upside-down triangle on the front of the bag.
- Glue the triangle down, add a red pom-pom nose to the point of the triangle and wiggly eyes.
- Make construction paper antlers (kid hands make great antler templates!) and glue to the top back of the bag.
Print or write the instructions on a piece of paper and glue to the back of the bag:
Sprinkle this on the lawn tonight -
The moon will make it sparkle bright.
As Santa’s reindeer fly and roam,
This will guide them to your home.
Remember that you must be sleeping sound,
Or Santa and his reindeer can’t come around.
So hop into bed and close your eyes tight,
And have sweet dreams of Christmas tonight!
