Throughout the holiday season it is a wonderful sight to see a brightly colored Christmas tree in your living room. The tree sparkles and brings a smile to every one’s faces when they see it. You spent a lot of time picking the perfect tree, the perfect size and shape. You spent hours decorating the tree and making sure all of the ornaments were just right.
But after the holidays, what are you supposed to do with it? When Christmas morning has come and gone, all the presents have been opened, the ornaments have been taken down and safely put away. Now you have a big tree in your living room and it is time to figure out where to dispose of it.
There are several options available for safe disposal, these options may vary by your location. You can try:
- Place the tree in a location where the wood can dry. Cut the trunk for firewood and use the branches as kindling
- Take the tree to have it chopped for mulch for your garden or yard.
- Check with your city to see if they have a landfill that accepts green compost.
- There are recycling programs in many large cities.
However you decide is best to dispose of your tree, please ensure you pick an environmentally safe way. If you aren’t sure you will be able to dispose of the tree at the end of the season, you can always get a fake tree that you can use year after year.
