Baby Smash Your Computer

By Amber Ortega on December 30th, 2008

Being a parent of children that range in age from 2-8 years old, I know they are all at different levels, drastically different levels.  Do they want to think that though?  Of course not, my two year old wants to do everything my 5 and 8 year old are doing, including playing on the computer.  Being that he can’t read or use the mouse, he ends up pressing buttons on the keyboard, pretending he knows what is going on.  There is now software, Baby Smash!,  that will allow him to play on the computer and not delete something he shouldn’t, open a hundred different files or anything else he can harm.

Let me explain how this new awesome program works!

  1. Install the software.  (Best part, it’s FREE)
  2. Launch Baby Smash!
  3. Allow your little one to hit and smash the keyboard as much as they would like!  The Windows key, Ctrl-Esc and Alt-Tab are all disabled, so your little one can not end the program on accident.  While your little one hits different keys, the screen will show various letters, shapes, numbers.
  4. ALT-F4 will exit the application.  If you need into the options, simply press Shift-Ctrl-Alt-O.

So what do you think?  I think this is the best thing every for my little man.  He will be so excited to see the buttons he is pressing actually do something cool on the screen.   Getting my two-year-old to use the computer….wow, who would have thought?  I think it is an awesome way to get them used to the computer and learn how to use the keyboard and mouse.  I give the program two thumbs up, way to go Scott Hanselman!
