Super Bowl Sunday means lots of cheering, lots of buffalo wings, lots of beer, and lots of… kids? As a parent, it’s hard to find the fun of the Super Bowl in the traditional ways, but that doesn’t mean the Super Bowl has to be forfeited on account of kids. Just make some kid-friendly snacks, include sweets, and have fun!

Do your kids like to dig in with their hands get dirty? Have a blast making Miniature Chocolate Footballs for a new chocolately twist on crisp rice cereal treats.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups Cocoa Pebbles or Cocoa Krispies cereal
  • 1 1/8 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • white cake decorating gel

Directions:

  1. Place the cereal in a large bowl.
  2. Microwave the chocolate chips, corn syrup and butter on High for 1 1/2 minutes.
  3. Stir.
  4. Microwave on High for 1 minute.
  5. Stir in the vanilla.
  6. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal and mix well.
  7. Shape into 18 football shapes, 3 inches long. Slightly moisten your hands to help keep them from sticking.
  8. Allow footballs to cool completely on wax paper.
  9. Once cool, add laces to the footballs using the decorating gel.

If you’re more like me and want easy and less-mess, go for Football Cookies using all premade ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • refrigerated sugar cookie dough
  • chocolate icing
  • white cake decorating gel

Directions:

  1. Slice the cookie dough into discs as you normally would to make cookies.
  2. Pinch opposite sides of the cookie to make it football-shaped.
  3. Bake cookies as directed on package.
  4. Once cooled, frost cookies with chocolate icing.
  5. Add laces with the decorating gel.

Now go score a Super Bowl party touchdown!
