Monsters Under the Bed

When my oldest son was about three years old, he became obsessed with the fact that there were monsters under his bed.  Monsters were everywhere, under his bed, in his closet, in the corner.  These monsters were everywhere, just waiting for me to leave the room.   He would cry and cry when we would put him to bed.  I had to figure out something to get him to ease his mind.  A night light wouldn’t work.  What else could I do?  We had to use our imaginations and come up with a unique and fun way to help him.

We found the greatest tool ever….Fabric Freshener, or should I say, Monster Spray.  I took an empty bottle and made a new label that said “Monster Spray” then filled the bottle with a  cheap Febreeze knock-off.  Another great spray to make is water with 1 – 2 teaspoons of your favorite liquid fabric softener.  This smells great and also helps if you have lots of static in your house.  The fabric softener will make all the static disappear, which is wonderful when you have been shocking yourself every time you touch anything!

Take your very special Monster Spray and mist the room before bed.  The room will smell good and hopefully help put your little one’s mind at ease.  It worked wonders for my son, although now being eight years old laughs because he remembers how we “tricked him”.  After explaining the spray and misting the room, my son refused to go to sleep without having his room sprayed.  It really keeps the monsters away, just try it!

Great idea. For us, Monsters Inc worked well. After all, who’s going to be scared of characters they know and love? Now he even sleeps with stuffed monsters next to him.
