American Girl is a line of dolls by Mattel that were created to help build self-confidence and pride in themselves.  The dolls are all unique, allowing girls to pick a doll that matches their interests.  Each doll is approximately 18 inches tall.  There are several lines of dolls, one of each is based on characters in history.  Each of these dolls comes with a book focused on numerous topics including child labor, racism and war.  The dolls have become so popular with young girls, there are now stores that allow purchase clothing, accessories and dolls themselves directly.  Each American Girl Place also offers a cafe, allowing seating for dolls and miniature-sized tea sets. Because of the popularity, American Girl has expanded to a full line of books, magazines and movies.

Stats:

Dolls are approximately 18 inches tall, except the Bitty line, which stands at approximately 15 inches tall.

Each doll includes a book, accessories and additonal books/movies sold seperately.

Recommended for girls aged 3 and up.

What others are saying about American Girl:

“American Girl celebrates a girl’s inner star – the little whisper inside that encourages her to stand tall, reach high and dream big.  We take pride and care in helping girls become their very best today so they’ll grow up to be the woman to make a difference tomorrow.”  by American Girl.

First of all, they are not “baby” dolls.  These dolls are more like your young daughter’s little friends.  There are many dolls available so girls can choose one that looks like them or choose a character that they related to most. ” by Viewpoints.

American Girl dolls are the type of toy that can become an heirloom for a child that she can pass down to her daughter. You can either buy a doll with its history already created or you can create a doll that looks like the person you are buying it for. They are on the expensive side, costing almost $100 for the doll not counting the different outfits and accessories you can get her.” by Helium.

We absolutely love American Girl dolls. My girls love the stories, the clothes and accessories and take their dolls everywhere.
