My local moms group has been a lifesaver to me. I have met supportive friends. My kids have met some of their best friends as well. We meet for weekly play dates. We throw festive parties and take educational field trips. But one of my favorite aspects of our group is our Moms’ Night Out (MNO) events. Once or twice a month we leave the kids with our husbands and go out for dinner and a movie. It is a wonderful time of bonding and conversation and it helps us to escape our everyday responsibilities for a few hours. Although dinner and a movie is always fun, sometimes we want to do something a little different. Here are a few ideas to mix up your group’s next MNO.
Break Out the Board Games
Once in a while we will take turns hosting a board game night. Everyone brings their favorite game. We order in pizza and spending the night playing and eating and laughing. I especially enjoy this because I am a board game fanatic and I never get the chance to play when my kids are around. It is also a little more economical and has a more informal atmosphere than a restaurant.

Host a Recipe Swap
One of our yummiest options is a recipe swap. Each mom brings their favorite dish along with enough recipe cards to share with everyone. Again, this is cheaper and more fun than a restaurant and you get a bunch of new, delicious recipes to take home. You can have the ladies bring any kind of recipe or you can narrow it down to a cookie swap or holiday dishes or whatever you like!

Book a Spa Day
Okay, so this is more of a Moms’ Day Out, but it is still a lovely couple of hours away. We usually book this for a Saturday morning or afternoon and follow it up with brunch or lunch. Because this one can be expensive, we usually save it for special occasions like Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day.
