KidGlue Review: SquidSoap

I saw the commercials on television and thought it looked interesting, then I saw it at the store and thought it was worth a shot.  SquidSoap by Airborne is hand soap for children that puts a red dot on their palm when they press down.  This red dot only goes away after the children have scrubbed their hands well, which is supposed to teach them the proper way to wash their hands.  After I brought a bottle of it home, my kids thought it was the greatest thing.  My oldest even covered his entire face in red spots and came out acting like he had a disease.  The ink pad only lasted a few days before my kids removed it and it fell down the drain.  It was great while it was there, but didn’t last long.  The concept is wonderful, but the ink pad can not hold up my three children.

What others are saying about SquidSoap:

“SquidSoap® is the FIRST hand soap that helps teach and train proper hand-washing technique to children. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that hand washing is one of the most important things children can do to help stay healthy.” by Airborne.

“When my daughter first started using the Squid Soap she was leaving behind ink and I knew that she hadn’t done a great job at washing away germs and whatnot.  After some practice though, she seems to have perfected the art of hand washing.  And that, my friends, is something that this germaphobe Mama can clap about.” by Mama Speaks.

“Replace all of the soap dispensers in the house with SquidSoap. It’s is a fun soap dispenser designed for your boyfriend, husband (and even your children). Most of them don’t intentionally refuse to wash their hands; it’s just that their momma’s didn’t teach them right (let’s not even start on that!). The simple fact is that SquidSoap helps change behavior, so that over time good hand hygiene becomes a natural, unconscious action.” by Perpetual Kid.
