These days, it’s important that our kids be as International as possible in their outlook and understanding. Our society is truly global, and being able to easily communicate in a variety of places is paramount to success. One of the best ways to help you child now to become a success later is to introduce him to Chinese. With a population of over 1.3 million and innumerable products, China is one of foremost countries your children will need to communicate with in business.

While television shows are a great way to do it, you have to depend on the network schedules or Tivo (if you have it) to help your kids learn. Enter the solution: Learn Chinese with Mandy and Pandy. You get to foster a love of reading (also a key to success) while teaching your child simplified Chinese with four books that include CDs for aural learning. And to help your child practice during playtime, you get free Mandy and Pandy dolls when you order the books while the supply of dolls lasts.

Reading, learning, and dolls? Sounds like a winner to me!

this was taken word by word from the “mandy&Pandy fan page” on Facebook; it was a discussion generated by the author:

I was talking to a bookstore owner about our books the other day. She likes the books, but thought Spanish would be more popular for her community. It’s not that there is a huge Hispanic population in the area. In fact, during a visit, the only Hispanics I saw in this affluent community were doing menial work (yard work, busboys) and didn’t seem to live there. It confused me as to why it would be perceived as more beneficial to learn Spanish when, chances are, their parents are doing business with China. I understand that the Hispanic population is the fastest growing in the USA. However, Chinese is the #1 language in the world. In this global economy, it makes more since to be learning Chinese than Spanish.”

just about the most racist and prejudiced thing i have read in a long time. i am not a fan, i will not support this point of view. i will not buy this book.
