How to Get Your Kids Involved in Earth Day

Earth Day is a relatively new celebration. And with new celebrations come new questions like, “How on Earth do I get my kids involved in Earth Day?” Many parents are at a loss to even explain Earth Day to their kids, let alone help them celebrate it. Don’t worry – it’s really as easy as playing in the dirt.
Encourage your kids to volunteer for Earth Day. There are many organizations that would be happy for even an hour of help from a young person. If your kid likes the dirt, teach them about composting and start your own compost pile in the back yard. If your daughter is a neat freak, teach her how to clean in a more environmentally-friendly way using natural cleaners like baking soda and vinegar.
One of the myths so many kids believe is that they can’t really help because they’re not big. What we as parents need to teach them is that everybody can do something, even if it’s something small, because even the wide expanse of beach is made up of tiny grains of sand.
