Playing board games is a great way to teach your children sportsmanship and encourages family bonding at the same time.  With today’s busy schedule it can be hard to get the whole family together at the same time, but it is an effort worth making.  You may want to dedicate one night a week or even one night each month to family game night.  Here are some suggested games to include for every member of your family.

For Kids Two Years Old and Up

Note: *These games are labeled 3&up.  They are easily played by 2 year olds, but may pose a choking hazard.  With proper supervision we never found this to be a problem, but use your own discretion.

For Kids Four Years Old and Up

  • Simple card games like Go Fish and War
  • Memory games like Flip n Match and Memory
  • Search and seek games like Where’s Waldo, I Spy and Guess Who
  • Tabletop activity games like Connect Four and Hungry Hungry Hippos
  • Simplistic board games like Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders and Trouble
  • “Junior” versions of more complex games like Monopoly, Clue and Scrabble
  • Activity floor games like Jumbo Checkers or Twister
  • Cranium Hullabaloo and Cranium Balloon Lagoon

For Kids Eight Years Old and Up

  • Card games like Uno, Phase 10 and Apples to Apples
  • Board games like Monopoly, Sorry, Clue, Yahtzee and Boggle
  • Interactive DVD games like Scene It
  • Memory games like Flip n Match and Memory
  • Activity floor games like Jumbo Checkers or Twister
  • A variety of Cranium such as the original Cranium, Whoonu, Cadoo and Zooreeka
