15 year-old Kevin Tork was a victim to the choking game, a growing fad amongst kids and teens that has been popularized on YouTube. This dangerous game is being played by children as young as 9 and 10 years old and has become popular in youth camps and sleepovers around the nation.
Shocked after discovering her brother’s body unconscious in his room, Tork’s 11 year-old sister notified her parents immediately. The parents were in disbelief after finding out there son had died from the choking game, especially since they had sat down and talked to him about the dangers of the game. He had promised them he would never play the game after they had watched a story about another child who had died from it.
Also known as “Suffocate Roulette” and the “Fainting Game”, The Choking Game is meant to produce a high for the participant by causing lightedheadedness and kids believe as “a sudden rush.” Kevin’s father Ken Tork is now dedicated to raising awareness about this horrific game and has even created a blog Choking Game Awareness to educate parents on the warning signs of the game.
