Voted as the “Family Film of the Year,” Disney Pixar’s Up is another classic for the world’s most advanced computer generated film studio. Currently the #1 movie in America, “Up” is about a retired balloon salesman and his unexpected 8 year-old friend who travel via balloon house to South America. Without giving too much away, the film has amazing graphics and makes for one feel good outing with the kids.
It’s hard to expect anything less from the makers of Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Cars, but Pixar might have outdone themselves with this picture. The legendary Ed Asner plays the voice of cranky old Carl, while 9 year-old Jordan Nagai plays the young Russell.
Opening at an astounding $68.2 Million dollar Box Office, “Up” ranks third behind The Incredibles and Finding Nemo on Pixar’s top picture earnings. The 3D version of “Up” was recorded as being two times more popular than the standard version. It seems as though the shift to 3D films in the past year has been a lot more seamless and well received than in the past. I definitely suggest paying extra dollars to see it in this format. Your kids will love you for it.
