The nasal spray Zicam is being recalled by the FDA, after reports of permanent damage to the users sense of smell hit the web. Scientists say that the ingredient of Zinc in the gel and spray is what is causing the damage. Thus any and all uses of related Zicam products should be ceased.
130 consumers have reported a loss sense of smell after using the Zicam nasal spray or gel. Apparently this is nothing new to Zicam. In 2006, their company Matrixx Initiatives paid out $12 million dollars to more than 300 consumers that sued them for loss of smell reports in 2006.
