10 year-old Colby Curtin had one wish before she died, she wanted to see Pixar’s latest production “UP.” Curtin was diagnosed with a rare form of vascular cancer three years ago. After becoming increasingly ill, she told her mother that she wanted to see the movie. This became a challenge due to the fact that she wasn’t capable of attending a screening at the movie theater.

Lisa Curtin, Colby’s mom decided to contact Pixar herself and describe her daughter’s situation. The company was sympathetic to her situation and flew out a representative with a special DVD of the movie. Colby was able to watch the movie in its entirety, but sadly passed away 7 housr later.

Lisa was grateful that her daughter was able to view the movie and felt the film had a symbolic meaning for her daughter’s situation. “When I watched it, I had really no idea about the content of the theme of the movie…For me it meant that (Colby) was going to go up. Up to heaven.”

This is one of the saddest stories I have ever read. I am so sorry for Colby and her family. This sweet girl knew she was dying and all she asked was to see a film? I can't stop thinking about you, sweetie! God bless you!
