June is National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month. How do we not know about this? More importantly, how on earth do we get our kids excited about this? Creativity, boys and girls. Creativity. Being a reader, I find that reaching for a book is the first step to success when it comes to getting ideas. Here are three books to help you (and your kids) celebrate National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month.

Play With Your Food – Go ahead – play with your food! This book is a not only a gorgeous piece you can display on the coffee table for its great photography, it shows you step by step how to make wonderful, whimsical animals from your fruits and vegetables. Sit down with your children to ooh and aah and the fantastic photography, then get busy playing with your food!

I Will Never, Not Ever, Eat a Tomato – Popular kid characters Charlie and Lola discuss the differences between Earth food and space food in this cute book. Here’s a great lesson in looking at things from a different perspective, including your food.

Deceptively Delicious – Jessica Seinfeld (yes, the wife of Jerry Seinfeld) has been there – that ugly place where you can’t get your kids to eat their vegetables. But Jessica didn’t get dejected; she got deceptive! Check out this awesome book with great recipes and real feedback from Jerry and the kids about what they thought of Mom’s deception.

And if all else fails, try a new recipe!

I can't live without apples. My favorite fruit ever.
