Haikou Hot Air Balloon Festival

Beautifully colored and decorated Hot-air balloons are seen flying toward the Qiongzhou Strait during the China Hot-air Ballooning Competition 2009 in Haikou city, south Chinas Hainan province. Eleven hot-air balloons successfully crossed the Qiongzhou Strait between Guangdong and Hainan provinces in south China on Monday June 15th, setting a new record in the annual Competition . The balloons flew for 10 miles of the shortest distance that the Strait stretches. The Competition was first held in 2007 during which altogether 10 balloons finished the flight.
