Cribs distributed by the company Simplicity have been recalled along with inflatable baby floats. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are warning consumers about the dangers of these products and better ways to protect their children.
The Simplicity brand of cribs have already caused ten infant deaths due to suffocation. According to the USCPSC, the crib side frame breaks, leaving infants stuck in between the mattress and the frame. A total of 400,000 cribs and 4 million inflatable floats are being recalled. The inflatable floats are subject to easy tear, leaving the possibility of drowning readily possible.
The inflatable floats were said to have sold from August 2002 up until July of 2008. Whereas the defective cribs were sold from January 2005 to June of 2009. It might be a good idea to do a checklist of the baby furniture you have and make sure those products haven’t been recalled. Always better to be safe than sorry.
