A nationwide recall for dry oatmeal has been announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture according to USA Today. A few of the following products were mentioned in the recall: Malt-O-Meal’s Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal packets, Meijer hot chocolate mix and various Kroger brand popcorn toppings.

Although no deaths or sicknesses have been reported from this recall, the FDA cautions consumers to be careful when purchasing the preceding products. The reason for the recall was said to be Salmonella found at a plant that produces dry milk, possibly affecting the Malt-O-Meal products.

The Malt-O-Meal brand voluntarily recalled their products in hopes of preventing any kind of possible outbreak. It is unlikely that any of these products are indeed contaminated, but it is always better to be safe then sorry.
