Teen sensation Miley Cyrus is again raising eyebrows, recently posing for Elle magazine while promoting a collaborative clothing line between Miley and Max Azria, to be sold exclusively at Walmart.
Though the clothing line will be comprised of “tops, pants, T-shirts, shoes and accessories all priced under $20,” the Elle shoot shows Miley wearing thigh high boots, feathers and accessories all suited for stuffing singles.
While my girls are too young to have jumped on the Miley bandwagon, this latest ad seems like the latest in a line of provocative missteps, including a topless photo for Vanity Fair and a paparazzi captured “running” ensemble of a green bra underneath a mini t-shirt, with a topless, much older boyfriend by her side. And she didn’t even have the decency to throw on some Easy Spirit pumps before the 100 yard dash. You know they “look like a pump, but feel like a sneaker.”
I only hope that young girls who look up to Miley will be able to find a LOT more of her clothes at Walmart, and will do as she “sells,” and not as she does.
Maybe I had Billy Ray pegged all wrong. I guess I was under the false impression that country musicians from middle America would be a little more strict with their 16-year-old daughters and a little more conservative with her career choices. A mullet doesn’t exactly scream liberal, self-expressionism. Or does it?
