Man Cavorts In Underwear On Film To Propose To Girlfriend

By Akela Talamasca on July 15th, 2009

pantsmanPA_450x398Pete Simson took his 5-year girlfriend Hannah McDonagh to the Watershed cinema in Bristol for her birthday, telling her they’d be seeing an arty French film. However, after the lights went down and the pre-film advertisements ran, what she saw instead was a music video for Daniel Bedingfield’s “If You’re Not The One”, lip synched by none other than her boyfriend, dancing around in his underwear.

After the five minute film had ended, Pete got down on his knee and proposed to Hannah, who, though still dumbfounded, said yes, to onlooker applause. The staff and audience were, of course, in on the plan all along, and the theater actually screened the movie for free. It took Mr. Simson three days to create the entire project, but since it ended with him being engaged, I’d say it was more than worth it.

These kinds of stories can either delight or horrify your children, depending on whether or not they think of their parents as actual people with lives outside of being parents. Chances are, if they don’t already, a tale like this might or might not win them over, but they’ll certainly never forget it! If you have a story of an unusual marriage proposal — especially if it’s yours — share it with Kidglue’s other readers in the comments!
