KidGlue Review: iPregnancy iPhone App

By Amber Ortega on July 28th, 2009

ipreg-1

Although I’m not currently pregnant, I couldn’t help but check out the iPregnancy iPhone app when I saw it.  I was curious just how accurate it really was.  Would it be any help to a pregnant woman?  I paid my $2.99 and downloaded the application, getting a welcome screen explaining that this application would help through my pregnancy.  Sounds good so far.

The screen then went onto say “Your baby is due on (updates when information is put in).  The baby is now 0 weeks 0 days.  0 months pre-conception!  40 weeks remain until your due date.  Your first trimester starts on June 30, 2009.  OK, so I must admit, this is pretty darn cool to keep track of exactly where you are and how long you have left in the pregnancy.  Entering the settings you can put in your next doctor appointment and gender of the baby.  You have the choice to list your favorite boy and/or girl names, for future reference.  This would really be handy when you are trying to come up with a name and are out and about.  Someone always has an awesome name they tell you, but later you forget.  Another section is baby info, which gives you the approximate length and weight of your baby along with other information that pertains to that point in your pregnancy.  The pictures area freaked me out just a bit.  This is a bunch of 3D pictures of the baby at each week during the pregnancy, beginning at 0 weeks pregnant.  It looks neat as the baby is bigger, but a little crazy as a close up of the ovary.

My overall rating is fairly high, I think this is a great application for someone that is pregnant.  I would have used it during each of my pregnancies, just for the convenience of all of it.

What others are saying about the iPregnancy iPhone Application:

“iPregnancy is a wonderful application that will help you keep track of your pregnancy right along with your doctor!” by iPhone App Review.

“This application is worth the cost.  One feature that I really loved is the name picker.  You can make a list of names, move the names with-in the list and also see the popularity rating of each name.  I have tried many baby name apps and they haven’t been nearly as good as this app.  It also has a nice countdown feature with info on where the baby is in growth” by customer review on the iTunes Application Store.
