Paper or Plastic? A Better Kind of Water Bottle

It’s a common scene at my house: the family is ready to go and I’m running out the door, scrambling for all of my belongings and in dire need of some liquid refreshment.  No, not THAT kind of liquid refreshment.  I need water and I need it now.  In the old days (a.k.a. last week), I’d have grabbed a bottle of Aquafina out of the fridge and not thought twice.

But after reading more and more about the dangers of drinking from plastic bottles, I’ve been trying to find a less potentially toxic way to quench my thirst.  I can only imagine how Pamela Anderson’s kids felt as babies.

Fortunately, there is a very real alternative about to hit the market: the 360 Paper Water bottle.  Designed from a “paper” made from bamboo, palm leaves and sugar cane stalks, the bottles are made from 100% renewable materials.  A thin film protects the paper material from the liquid contents of the bottle, and should this material prove to be BPA free, this could provide a safer way to take your water to go.  In addition, your paper water bottle won’t be around for as long as Pam’s “girls,” and you’ll always have something to scrawl your grocery list on.

Until the paper water bottles hit the market, though, I guess I’ll just be on the hunt for a SIGG that matches my nail polish.  My “Jewel of the Nile” may be chipped, but at least it’s non-toxic.
