WeTV has take a page from TLC on reality parenting. Their new show Raising Sextuplets is, you guessed it, about a couple and their daily life raising their set of sextuplets. Bryan and Jenny Masche invite cameras into their home to show America what it is like to go from zero to six babies in nine months. The couple is obviously drawn to the limelight. Before this show they had previously appeared on Deal or No Deal and Bryan has aspirations to move into politics down the road.
As a mom, I have to say this show doesn’t appeal to me the way Jon and Kate might have. The episodes that I have caught included Jenny training for a marathon while signing her husband up for a weight loss class and getting plastic surgery to fix the damage done by the sextuplets. These parents seem very wrapped up in themselves. I have trained for a half-marathon and it takes a lot of time. If Jenny is doing that on top of a full time job and running a real estate investment company on the side, I start to wonder where these six toddlers fit in.
I will be the first to admit that I am not the most ambitious person. I do set goals and strive to achieve them. But if they get in the way of raising my children, the goals take a backseat. As far as money goes, if we have enough to pay the bills and save for college and retirement, I am a happy camper. So maybe that is why this show doesn’t hit home with me. I can’t relate to their mindset. I am not saying they are bad parents, I am not saying it’s a bad show, I am just saying it’s not for me.
