clarcon-smClarcon Hand Sanitizer has been recalled by the Food and Drug Association for containing large amounts of “harmful bacteria.” Clarcon’s laboratories were raided by US Marshalls after refusing to destroy their inventory. Although no consumers complained of any allergic reactions or poisioning, the FDA won’t take any chances.

The FDA warns consumers to not purchase or use Clarcon products, noting that since 2007 there are approximately 800,000 bottles in circulation.

FDA Director Deborah M. Autor made it clear that these products are harmful and that consumers should avoid them if at all possible. She also took a a big stand against Clarcon and the importance of industry standards. “The FDA is committed to taking enforcement action against firms that do not manufacture drugs in accordance with our current good manufacturing practice requirements.”
