Family Fun Month is upon us, and what family doesn’t have fun when food is involved? Ok, maybe I’m letting my inner foodie show, but food is fun! This is a perfect time to go a little wild with food, since you don’t have to worry about getting up early after a late night camp fire feast or it being too cold to hose everyone down after a food fight. Did I just say food fight? Oh yeah, kids. Let’s fire up the foodie fun!

Hot Dog Roast – Cookouts are just for holiday weekends and camping, you know. Gather some firewood and the family and roast hot dogs – just because!

S’mores – Make traditional s’mores for fun, yeah. If it’s too hot, make frozen ones using chocolate pudding and whipped topping. Just slather the graham crackers and pop them in the freezer. Yummo!

Picnic – This is another in-or-out treat. If it’s nice, head to the park; if it’s hot, lay out a blanket in the living room floor. The blanket is essential – without it you’re just eating in the floor.

Dessert for Dinner – Once a year won’t kill ‘em! Have cake and ice cream for dinner, or popcorn and chips. I like to surprise my kids with a junk food buffet every once in a while. You’ll get major brownie points for this one!

Food Fight – C’mon – when was the last time you threw food? Everyone should enjoy a good old-fashioned food fling at least once in life. Set up the ammo outside, wage war, then hose everybody down to clean up.

Family fun is super easy with food. Just relax from the parent perspective for a bit and you’ll be surprised how much fun you can have with food!
