On August 13, 2009, Playskool issued a voluntary recall of numerous Little Tikes products featuring pieces that could become logged in a child’s throat and cause choking. 1.6 million toy workshops and trucks that have been on the market for more than 15 years, are the affected toys and if you or someone you know has one of the products listed below they should return the product from where they purchased it or send it back to Playskool and receive a complete refund. The products were offered at various websites and major retailers such as Wal-Mart or ToysRus.
Playskool announced the recall after an 11-month old in South Carolina was hospitalized when they swallowed one of the included plastic play-nails. The nails measure 3.25″ x 1.25″.
The toys that are affected by this recall are:
- Electronic Project Workshop – Sold between March 1994 and Dec. 2003
- Little Handiworker Workhorse – Sold between March 1999 and June 2009
- Home Improvements 2-Sided Workshop – Sold between February 2001 and January 2009
