If you asked me the top 10 internet search phrases (from over 3.5 million searches between February 2008 to July 2009), I’d give you “YouTube” and “Facebook.”  I’d even give you “Miley Cyrus,” “Taylor Swift,” and “Jonas Brothers.”  I might even throw in a “Megan Fox” or a “Robert Pattinson” to satisfy those hormonal teen urges.

Never would I have guessed, though, that “sex” would crack the top five, and that “porn” would come in at number six.

Here is the rest of the list, from a survey logged through security firm Symantec’s OnlineFamily.Norton.

  1. YouTube
  2. Google
  3. Facebook
  4. Sex
  5. MySpace
  6. Porn
  7. Yahoo
  8. Michael Jackson
  9. Fred (YouTube star)
  10. eBay

I’m left wondering who’s computers were tracked, if it included both girls and boys, their ages and if the tracked computers were solely for the teens’ use or if they were used by the whole family.

I’m also stumped that the only celebrity in the top 10 is Michael Jackson, who is clearly a star of my era and not Gen X or Y.

Most importantly, though, who is “Fred”?!?  I’m about to find out.
