RECALL – 6 Types of Window Shades Can Cause Strangulation

windowshadeAfter the deaths of three children and the near strangulation of at least seven others, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued six recall notices for different types of window shades because their cords get tangled around children.

This recall affects the following products:

Lewis Hyman roll-up blinds and Roman shades - 4.8 million were sold at Target stores between January 1999 and December 2008.

Lutron roller shades – 245,000 were sold at Expo Design Centers and other specialty stores between January 2000 and April 2009

Victoria Classics Roman shades – 163,000 were sold at Target stores between September 2008 and June 2009

IKEA Roman shades - 120,000 sold at IKEA stores between August 2006 and June 2008

Pottery Barn Kids Roman shades – 85,000 sold through the Pottery Barn Kids website and catalog between January 2003 and May 2007.

Vertical Land blinds and shades – 85,000 were sold at Vertical Land stores between January 1992 and December 2006.
