Sammi Hanratty Takes a Stand Against Bullying

By Kelly Turner on September 18th, 2009

Sammi_Hanratty-MDSammi Hanratty, 13, of The Lost Medallion, has joined BullyBust 2009 to take a stand against bullies everywhere.

Bully Bust 2009 is CSEE’s (Center for Social and Emotional Education) awareness campaign designed to reduce bullying in schools nationwide.  Sammi is a “Stand Up Ambassdor” for the campaign and lending her celebrity to help spread the word.

Sammi is working with Boy Meets Girl designer Stacy Mortgenstern to sell shirts promoting Bully Bust 2009 at select Bloomingdale’s.  A portion of the proceeds will go to helping schools in need receive resources to help prevent violence and bullying.

Your child can get involved in the action, too.  Head to the site together, and sign the “Stand Up Pledge” to show your support with other kids and adults and even see how your child’s school can become a Bully Bust 2009 partner.

According to the Bully Bust website,  9 out 10 children report having seen someone be bullied.  It’s time to do something about it.  Talk to your kids about bullying, whether you suspect them of being victims or not, because whether they are the bully, the bull-ee or a bystander, they have the power to stop it.

Sammi will be at Bloomingdale’s September 19th in Los Angeles signing Boy Meets Girl Bully Bust 2009 shirts.
