The NFL has become a staple of American culture and almost every family has at least one NFL fan. Every year right before the NFL season EA Sports releases one of the most highly anticipated games of the year; the new Madden NFL game. Every year it is one of the most widely purchased and well reviewed games because it is great fun for the entire family. Kids (and parents) of all ages can immerse themselves in this and have an enjoyable gaming experience. With it’s realistic game-play and no extra violence (besides what is already in the actual sport) this game has been and will continue to be a winner for everyone.
This year is no different. People look forward to this game the moment all the Super Bowl confetti has been cleaned up. There is a common myth that there has been a curse on the player (or players this year) that have graced the cover. Most recently Brett Favre, who was last years cover model (but in a Green Bay Packers uniform). But this year Troy Polamalu of the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers and Larry Fitzgerald of the NFC champion Arizona Cardinals will hope to dispel that myth, or at least only have to be burdens with 50% each. (Polamalu got hurt in the Steelers game last week, keeping the curse alive though)
Along with the cover, the enhancements and modifications are greatly anticipated. This year the developers have placed a great emphasis on the play calling and the manipulation of plays. There is an entirely new, revamped play calling system and menu options that take you to kickoff faster than ever before and speed up online matches with accelerated clocks, presentations and more. The new Pro-Tak animation technology provides unprecedented control over the outcome of every play. Drag defenders towards the first down marker, including up to 9-man gang tackles, fight for a fumble at the bottom of the pile, and evade the rush with all-new quarterback avoidance actions. Enhanced play at the line of scrimmage features a new blocking system that allows the quarterback to step into the pocket and gives the defensive line more control over the rush.
Besides the gameplay modifications, EA has also added some extra bells and whistles that will make things a little more realistic and fun. The Extra Point Show is a postgame show that will play at the end of every game and will be dictated based on the outcome of your game and any other games that may have gone on in your online franchise league. Just a little icing on the cake to make a fun game even more memorable. It is also the most customizable version of Madden NFL to date. Now players can alter game-play options to adjust the experience to their liking. A revamped play calling system and menu takes you to kickoff faster than ever before. Players in a hurry can even speed up online matches with accelerated clocks, streamlined presentation and more.
From referees peeling players off a fumble pile and the chain gang rushing in to measure for a key first down, to authentic throwing and kicking styles, all-new player equipment and pre-game ceremony for every game, including the Superbowl, players can be sure that if you see it on Sunday, you’ll see it in Madden NFL 10.

Madden NFL 10 Reviews
“I have been playing Madden since 1999 and the game just keeps getting better. The graphics continue to become more and more life like. The game play is outstanding. Rushing the ball is a slightly easier this year allowing for a more balanced offensive attack. The additional attributes make players more closely resemble their human counterparts. The reduction of most players overall rating greatly contributes as well. Online franchise is a new addition this year and I am entirely sure if I like it or not. Overall this game has become my personal favorite game ever.” – from a customer review via Amazon.com
“Every year I say this is the last time I buy a new madden. Then they put out a special edition. all right i’ll buy it for FAVRE!!! This year I went to the super bowl and what happens? they PUT FITZ on the cover and Cardinals play in this game better than the 09 version because no one knew how the 09 team would do! I’m a cardinals season ticket holder ever since the new building (new? only!!!) and love this games graphics. I gave 09 to my 8 year old son as an excuse to get this one for myself! make up whatever excuse you need and buy this game!” – from a customer review via Walmart.com

Nice review. I haven't really been a major sports fan since the old days of the Playstation 1, really. I may actually get back into it, the graphics are starting to look pretty amazing, though I hear that the gameplay is beginning to lack.
