Susan Sarandon’s 24 year old daughter Eva Amurri has landed a role in “Californication“, David Duchovny’s hit series now in its third season. Her role as a student who moonlights as a stripper required her to learn some new skills, after which she says she has found new respect for those who pole dance.
Ms. Amurri is not the first woman to speak of the empowering nature of stripping, and in the video she links it to learning to move in a different way. However, the profession does still carry with it a seedy connotation, and it’s frequently seen as a last-resort job and something to be ashamed of.
We know that there are women in the world who have been forced by circumstance to take up stripping when no alternatives remained. There are also women who have chosen to strip while pursuing degrees in college. There are also those women who started out stripping, and left the job at some point after getting married, or becoming pregnant, or just after feeling it was time to move on. There are as many ways to approach the situation as there are people who perform it.
