Former “American Idol” hopeful, Chris Sligh has taken to his blog to complain about the show and his career. He states that after the tour the “Idols will do nothing in music and will be washes within 3 or 4 years. Not trying to be mean, just being real.” He complains throughout the entire post that once the show is over so is your career. He believes that “American Idol” hopefuls will never be famous and will soon be forgotten.
This is one of the shows that all my kids enjoy watching in the evenings. They get excited, pick their favorites and cheer for them. It is a good lesson for the kids when they see their favorite get voted off. I try to tell them that maybe it isn’t the right time for them to win right now, but they need to take what they have learned and grow from it. Every experience teaches you something.
As far as Chris complaining that he doesn’t have a career, how is that “American Idol’s” fault? There are many people that would love a career in music, and very few actually make it. You can’t blame someone else for your short-comings. If this is his passion and what he wants to do in life, he needs to work hard and find a way to make it happen. By sitting back and complaining, he is wasting his time and appearing to be a cry baby. This is not someone I want my kids looking up to. I want my kids to see their favorite celebrities as hard working, passionate people. I don’t want my kids looking up to this guy who tried to take the easy route going on “American Idol” to get his career going and is now sitting and crying because he didn’t win and isn’t famous.
There are some people that did make it, look at Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry. They were not the finalists and have done fairly well for themselves. They worked hard and had the talent to take them to where they are today. Maybe Chris should look at another career for himself. Just because you want to be a famous singer doesn’t mean you can. I could want to be the next Martha Stewart, but that doesn’t mean I will get my own show, line of products and magazine.

Having read Chris Sligh's blog I did not get the impression that he was complaining about no having a career. In fact he said that he is able to make a living at his music. He was trying to give American Idol contestants a dose of reality. He also gave alot of good advice to aspiring musicians.
