Johnson & Johnson has issued a recall of 57 lots of nearly two dozen varieties of infant and children’s liquid Tylenol because they may be contaminated with bacteria. An inactive ingredient did not pass internal testing and a strain of “B. cepacia bacteria” was detected in in a portion of a raw material that went unused in the final product.
Johnson & Johnson wanted to make clear that they believed no bacteria found its way to the finished product and that a medical event is unlikely. “It was decided, as a precaution, to recall all product that utilized any of the raw material manufactured at the same time as the raw material that tested positive for the bacteria,” the company said in an issued statement.
The recalled products were made between April 2009 and June 2009 and sold at major retailers nationwide. The complete list with lot numbers is listed below.
