After this week’s announcement that TLC will continue to shoot their reality show featuring the Gosselin sextuplets and siblings without the part time parenting services of father Jon, he’s asked the network to immediately stop production on the show indefinitely.
Attorneys for Jon stated, “Effective immediately, no production crews are to enter Jon’s family home for any reason. In the event that anyone enters the marital property, Jon Gosselin will notify the local authorities to effectuate police action against any trespassers.”
As an attorney myself, I first was hit with the thought that Jon is likely still contractually obligated to not only allow production of the show, but also to participate in filming. A statement released by TLC confirms that, “Despite Jon Gosselin’s repeated self destructive and unprofessional actions, he remains under an exclusive contract with TLC.” In spite of this, however, TLC has chosen to stop filming the children until an agreement can be reached between the parties.
Given Jon’s egocentric behavior of late, this could simply be a case of “sour grapes” by Jon for being cut out of the spotlight. However, the mother in me can’t help but wonder if Jon’s actions might be motivated by a genuine care and concern for his children, and that perhaps appearing on camera during the disintegration of their family is NOT in their best interests. And if that is the case, maybe Jon isn’t as much of a scum as he seems.
