This first weekend in October is a great one to take your kids to the movies.

In addition to the kids fare that’s already out there, “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” and “Fame” this weekend brings an old favorite back to the big screen in a whole new way as well as a true life sports story that will dazzle the whole family.

First up is the “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2″ Double Feature opening in Disney Digital 3D. Yes, you’ve all see the first two stories of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the gang as they come to life when their owner, Andy, turns his back. But you’ve never seen it like this. Pixar went through and made both movies 3D friendly so that Rex, the Army men, Barbie and more will feel like they are in your lap. Plus, for the cost of one ticket, audiences get to see BOTH movies. In between – if you don’t have to bring your kids to the bathroom, there is even a brand new feature with trivia questions, fun facts and more.

And if that isn’t enough, one can be sure they’ll also attach the trailer for the upcoming “Toy Story 3″ which comes out June 18, 2010.

Also opening this weekend, though on a far smaller scale, is the documentary “More Than a Game.” We know what you’re thinking – “My kids will NEVER go see a documentary.” Well, we’ve got two words in response to that: Lebron James.

The film follows Lebron, as well as his closest friends in the world, from the childhood years starting to play basketball all the way through their senior year of high school where they competed for the national championship. The entire time these friends (four, then five, guys) always played together – through thick and thin. And as Lebron began to grow into an international icon, even at the age of 16, his friend grounded him and made him a better person.

“More Than a Game” teaches lessons like hard work, never giving up on your dreams, the importance of school, family and so much more. It’s rated PG for “brief mild language and incidental smoking” but it’s totally appropriate for kids of all ages.
