The exploitation continues. A new reality TV show called “The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty” is tentatively scheduled for a December air date. The latest report has Michael’s three surviving children Michael Joseph Jr (or “Prince”), Paris-Michael Katherine, and Prince Michael Jackson II (or “Blanket”) joining the cast, though not without some controversy.
Rebbie Jackson has refused to be a part of the series, but feels that “Michael would spin in his grave if he knew his kids would be on this show”, though the children’s mother has given her acquiescence.
Given Michael’s history of covering up in public and being notoriously publicity-shy, it is difficult to imagine that he would be in favor of his kids appearing on a TV show that sounds as though it’s designed to give access to the Jackson family’s inner workings. There really is nothing to help bereavement like letting it all hang out for the public to see. Let’s hope that this is the final word for the Jackson family; enough is enough.
Michael’s children deserve a chance at living normal lives — as much as is possible while still bearing the Jackson surname. Will any of the three pursue a career in music? Does having a famous parent help or hinder a child in the pursuit of their dreams? And is it possible for them to escape unscathed from Jackson family in-fighting?
