TinkerBellLostTreasure-MDAfter nearly 50 years, Tinker Bell has finally gotten a makeover.  Don’t fret: she’s just as adorable as ever.

For Tinker Bell’s latest movie, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, Pixar co-founder John Lasseter said he wanted to give Tink a stylish but more practical outfit. Tinker Bell’s new ensemble consists of knee-high flat boots, tights, a mini skirt, caplet and hat- all in green, of course. Quite stylish and still fairy chic. “I began thinking what the costume design would be for each season,” he says. “The weather is cooler [in fall], and her outfit should reflect that.”

He makes a good point. I remember when I was little, I wanted to be Tinker Bell for Halloween, so I threw on a green one piece bathing suit and some fairy wings. My mom wouldn’t let me near the door until I put on some pants to cover up. I cried for an hour because everyone knows Tink doesn’t wear pants.  It didn’t matter anyway, because I ended up wearing a snow suit over my costume because it snowed.  I wore my wings on the outside so everyone thought I was a snow angel.

The movie makers were very careful to not change Tink’s ‘tude with her new look, though. “We wanted her to still be cute and charming, and not mess with who she was. You have to be careful,” said Klay Hall, The Lost Treasure’s director. “We kept her iconic white pompoms on her boots. I love those pompoms. They are what make her adorable.”

Adorable, indeed.

Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure hits store October 27th, 2009, and features the voices of Kristen Chenoweth, Lucy Liu, Angelica Houston, and Raven-Symone.
