Every Tuesday, KidGlue presents “Healthy Pick/Makes Me Sick” where Sarah Matheny takes a popular restaurant’s menu and uncovers the most healthy and least healthy items on the menu. This week: Chipotle.

We’re crazy about Chipotle in our house.  Any restaurant that lets you custom make your meal is a godsend in a house full of non-meat eating, some dairy-eating, very independent minded females who want to do everything for themselves.  So what if two of those females are under five?  There is something for everyone at Chipotle, and their “Food With Integrity” approach of using sustainable, fresh, chemical and hormone free food is refreshing.  Still, you can build your meal as healthfully (or non-healthfully) as you wish.

Makes Me Sick: Steak Burrito with the Works

A steak burrito with beans, rice, veggies, cheese, salsa, sour cream, guacamole and a side of chips will set you back a staggering 1,965 calories and 87 grams of fat!  Even it your burrito has “integrity,” this is by no means a healthy choice.

Healthy Pick: Vegetarian Burrito Bol

A much healthier choice that stills allows a bit of indulgence is a Burrito Bol with beans, veggies, lettuce, salsa and guacamole.  At only 315 calories, even with that glop of guac, you won’t have to roll yourself home after a night out.
