Here at KidGlue, we try and give you advice or suggestions to help you be a better, cooler parent. It’s not an easy task, but we do our best. And when we are at our best, we tell you about things that maybe your kids haven’t heard of, but will eventually love if they give it a shot.

Today, we do that again.

A few weeks ago I was at a film festival here in Los Angeles and saw a film called “A Town Called Panic.” It’s a stop motion animation film, much like “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” but it stars inanimate toys like a horse, a cowboy and an Indian. It’s from Belgium, so it’s in French with English subtitles, but the story and characters are so wacky and out of this world that even if your kids CAN’T read, they are sure to eat this film up. It’s one of my favorite of the year and I’m an adult. (I’m not the only one either, most critics love this movie.)

The film will be out in very limited release on December 16 so it qualifies for an Oscar and then slowly roll out to other theaters in January. You can check the full list here to see if it’s going to be in your town. And if it’s not, just click this link and add it to your Netflix queue now. Trust us. “A Town Called Panic” is a blast on multiple levels for the whole family.
