The Wheat Foods Council has launched a new, online program, www.HowWheatWorks.com which allows parents and kids to create their own wheat food, advancing wheat kernels from the wheat field all the way through to the store shelf, following the process online, for kids to find out exactly how the food on their table gets there. Along the way, you will learn about how wheat foods come to be and why it is an important to incorporate whole grains into your diet.
How exactly does it work?
How Wheat Works combines 3-D animation, still photography, video and factual information to chronicle wheat’s path from field to table. It takes just minutes to complete and spans the course of four days. The interactive opportunities for users include the selection of the type of wheat to be grown (hard, soft or durum) and flour (whole or enriched grain) to be milled, based on the type of wheat food you want to create.
Pretty neat, huh?
In addition, for each participant of How Wheat Works, the Council will donate two pounds of flour, up to 90,000 pounds, to Operation Homefront, a non-profit that provides assistance to needy U.S. troops and their families.
To celebrate wheat, and its many nutritional benefits, The Wheat Foods Council and Kidglue are giving away 4 wheat themed gift bags for you and your kids to enjoy.
The gift bags include: a “You’re Not Getting Enough” Wheat tote bag and Lunch box jam packed with wheat products, including flour, cereal, snack bars, and cookies from ConAgra, General Mills and Kellogg’s.
