“Finding Entertainment Appropriate for Kids,” or FEAK, runs every Friday and discusses places – mainly the movie theaters – where parents can look to find things for their kids to watch over the weekend.
The Thanksgiving turkey is done. Maybe you’ve braved the malls and done some Black Friday shopping. But you still have an entire weekend to spend with the family. What are you to do?
Hollywood is hoping you go to the movies, of course.
The weekend after Thanksgiving usually has a ton of holiday fare out there and this year is no exception. There is a veritable cornucopia of films – animated, comedy, 3D, true story, etc. – that you and your family can choose to enjoy.
Here are all the family films currently out in theaters and what the critics, both here at KidGlue and beyond, are saying about them.
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” – What is there to say other than that it’s a huge box office success and is pretty awful, unless you are a fan.
“The Blind Side” – Critics agree this movie is pretty darn good, and we should have a review up of it soon.
“Planet 51″ – This animated film featuring Dwayne Johnson was a box office bomb, but some think you’re kids will enjoy it.
“Fantastic Mr. Fox” – The best film of the year, and it’s animated and totally okay for your children. Seek it out.
“Old Dogs” – Terrible.
“A Christmas Carol” – A nice little movie that doesn’t quite live up to its expectations.
“The Princess and the Frog” – Disney does it again with this brand new 2D adventure. If you are in NY or LA, you can see it now. If not, read this review and check it out December 11.
“This is It” – If you want some music in your life, maybe you’ll check out this Michael Jackson documentary that is a little repetitive but family friendly none the less.
“Where the Wild Things Are” – Kids who like to analyze movies will surely enjoy this polarizing adaptation of the famous children’s book.
