grill1The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada  have issued a recall of more than 663,000 gas grills sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores nationwide.  The “Perfect Flame SLG Series Gas Grills” manufactured by LG Sourcing, Inc. have burners that will deteriorate, causing irregular flames which may cause the lid to catch fire and cause fire and burn injury.

LG has received about 40 reports of irregular flames and about an additional 23 reports of the lids catching fire.  More  importantly, the firm has received 21 incidents of minor burns to hands, arms or face and another report of an eye injury occurring.  Injuries have occurred from this product so consumers are urged to stop use immediately and contact the manufacturer or the place of purchase to receive free replacement burners and, depending on the model of the grill owned, a free replacement lid.

The recalled grills are SLG series “Perfect Flame” brand outdoor propane or natural gas grills. They were sold from September 2005 through May 2009 for between $200 and $550 (U.S.) and in Canada from December 2007 through May 2009 for between $200 and $250 (CAN).  The grills are stainless steel and painted black or gray metal. The model numbers affected by this recall are listed below:

  • SLG2006B
  • SLG2006BN
  • SLG2006C
  • SLG2006CN

  • SLG2007BN

I am glad to hear that the grills are being recalled. Will the consumers receive replacement parts free of charge, or are they simply being removed from the stores? Is there any cost involved to replace the parts, and will Lowe’s ship parts to their customers?
