The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission along with Allura Imports, Inc. have issued a voluntary recall of some hooded sweatshirts that have drawstrings which may cause strangulation. In February of 2006 the C.P.S.C. issued a set of guidelines to prevent strangulation or entanglement from drawstrings on clothing garments.
Allura’s sweatshirts were sold as 2-piece sets at Burlington Coat Factory stores from October 2008 through July 2009 for $11 and feature the words “Major-Diva” printed on the front and “2b REAL” printed on the tag. About 3,700 were sold in hot pink, light pink, ivory and khaki in sizes 4, 5, 6 and 6X. As of now there have been no injuries reported but Allura and Imports is complying with the CPSC standards and issuing the recall.
Consumers are urged to immediately stop wearing the clothes and return them to the place of purchase or contact the manufacturer for a complete refund. You may contact Allura Imports at 800-695-4510 or visit the Burlington Coat Factory website.
The C.P.S.C. is still interested in receiving incidents or injury reports that are either directly related to this product recall or involve a different hazard with the same product. Please report them by visiting this website.
