The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Simon & Schuster Inc. have issued a voluntary recall of more than 142,000 Monday the Bullfrog Plush Books because the plastic eyes on the book may become detached and can be choked on by small children. While no injuries have been reported, there have been three reports of the eyes detaching and one report of the eyes coming detached. Simon & Schuster is recalling before any further reports come in.
Monday the Bullfrog is a plush puppet bullfrog with a board book attached to the frog’s mouth. It was sold in clear plastic packaging, and the book is marked with ISBN numbers 10: 1416912312 and 13: 9781416912316 printed inside the mouth of the bullfrog. They were sold in bookstores and other retailers nationwide and online from January 2006 through November 2009 for about $18.
Consumers are to take the product out of children’s reach immediately and contact Simon and Schuster for a free replacement. They can be contacted at 800-732-9531 or through their website.
