RECALL – Sylvania Rocketship PalPODzzz Nightlights

By Jeremy Suede on December 15th, 2009

Nightlight-LGThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and OSRAM SYLVANIA Products, Inc. have announced a voluntary recall of over 26,000 LED Rocketship PalPODzzz Portable Nightlights because they may break and expose electrical components, causing electric shock.  The bottom plastic cover on the recharging base can break and, when touched, the exposed wires will shock.

These products were sold in Home Depot and other related retailers nationwide as well as on Amazon.com or Sylvaniaonlinestore.com from October 2008 through November 2009 for about $20.  OSRAM SYLVANIA has received three reports of customers receiving minor electric shocks from touching the exposed base wires.

This recall involves LED Rocketship PalPODzzz portable nightlights with model number 72174. The product can also be used as an emergency light or a flashlight. The nightlight is shaped as a rocket ship and sits in a plastic recharging base that plugs into the wall. The model number and date codes “0808” or “0908” are printed on the label attached to the bottom cover of the recharging base

Consumers are being urged to stop use immediately and return the product to their place of purchase.  Contacting OSRAM SYLVANIA will get you a replacement unit as well as a $5 coupon for any future products.  OSRAM SYLVANIA may be reached at 877-423-3772 or visit their website Sylvania.com
