If you’re looking for a fresh and new Christmas cartoon to show your kids then you should absolutely check out Disney’s “Prep & Landing,” a wonderfully animated short that shows what happens before Santa ever gets down your chimney. Just how does he know that no creatures are stirring? How do they stocking get hung so carefully? And just how does the tree always seem to have just enough room under it for that cool gift? Well you see, not all elves build toys, some make sure each house is prepared for Santa’s arrival.
That’s where Wayne the Christmas Elf comes in. He is the Prep and Landing guy. For 227 years he has been the elf on the ground, making sure that each house is ready and Santa lands safely to fill the house with Christmas cheer. But Wayne is just like anybody else and he strives to get that big promotion to the cushy job, Director of the Naughty List. When Santa gives the job to Wayne’s partner (whom Wayne trained) suddenly the Christmas spirit leaves Wayne and he is not a happy Christmas elf.
In comes Lanny, the new guy straight out of the academy with his optimistic look and endless cheerfulness piled on top of his first night jitters. Wayne and Lanny arrive at their assignment and, in his disillusionment, Wayne lets Lanny do all the work. Naturally all heck breaks loose which leads to the possibility of Santa having to pass over poor Timmy’s house. Eventually Lanny shows Wayne what it means to be an elf and do their jobs in order to give just one boy the Christmas cheer. I won’t ruin anymore but it is really fun to watch for both kids and adults and I can’t recommend it enough to bring in a little original Christmas spirit to your house.
“Prep and Landing” offers wonderful new looks on just what goes into the Christmas holiday up in Santa’s workshop. You’ll get to see some cool Christmas themed gadgets and gizmo’s that will make you chuckle at their cleverness as well as meet some cool new characters like Thrasher the Reindeer who travels at a blistering Mach 2. You will love the originality and smartness. Your kids will love it because it is not some classic they are uninterested in and in the end you will all enjoy the Christmas spirit with this new animated short from the people who know how to make animated shorts, Disney.
