Sports Memories in the Making: Dec. 21 – 27

By Jeremy Suede on December 21st, 2009

LeBron_James_2-SMNew Years Day has college football.  Thanksgiving has the NFL.  It’s only natural that Christmas Day has its own sporting event.  In recent years, the NBA has filled that void with its best match-ups of the regular season.  This year is no different with two match-ups that feature the biggest stars the NBA has to offer.  Both are highly worth watching and will be very entertaining.  Make sure you check them out.

The New Orleans Saints were knocked out of their bid for perfection by the Dallas Cowboys who are attempting to win big games in December, something they have been unable to do for more than a decade.  But the Indianapolis Colts are still perfect and seem to be trying to maintain that.  Peyton Manning has solidified himself as the most solid quarterback in the league and their goal of ultimate perfection is something worth cheering for.

Tiger Woods continues to fall lower and lower.  Will there ever be a bottom to this hole he has dug?  The more and more we peel away the layers to this guy’s public image the more we realize he is not the perfect role model we all thought he was.  Not good at all for our youngsters.

So while you are stuck inside with family on Christmas Day, flip on the basketball games.  They will absolutely be worth it and give you yet even more reasons to remember this Christmas.

Happy Holidays to you all and enjoy the memories!

Top 3

1. NBA – Cleveland Cavaliers at Los Angeles Lakers – Dec. 25 @ 5 pm

If you watch one NBA game this year, make sure it is this one.  I don’t have to write much here about this game but I could honestly write pages.  Here are three things that give you no other choice but to watch this game:

  1. Kobe vs. Lebron - The two best players in the game trying to top the other, what more needs to be said?
  2. Kobe vs. Shaq – They may seem friendly, but deep down there is a fierce competition that give both motivation to best the other.
  3. It’s freaking Kobe Bryant and Lebron James!

2. NBA – Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic – Dec. 25 @ 2:30 pm

The first game of the NBA Christmas match-up has further reaching implications than the second (see above) so expect it to be just as entertaining without the two biggest names in the game.  The No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the Eastern Conference means that this game is very valuable in the final standings in the playoffs.  Kevin Garnet, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen look to display their dominance for all to see over the other Eastern Conference powerhouse, the Magic.  Dwight Howard is Superman and his Magic have showed they are still a force to be reckoned with and a win here would give them a big boost in morale and confidence.  This will be a very physical game which means the players will be chippy.  Watch to see what could unfold.

3. NFL – New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts – Dec. 27 @ 4:15 pm

Peyton Manning and the Colts have wrapped up a playoff spot and a first round bye so they are playing for pride and often times that is the biggest motivation.  They are going for perfection but will the attempt to do that cost them the ultimate prize of a Super Bowl win?  In order to have any hope of possibly making the post season Mark Sanchez and the Jets must win this game (and have other teams lose) so they will be giving it everything they have because it may just be their last chance.  Even if they don’t make the playoffs, being the first team to defeat the Colts would be a huge win for the team.  Watch to see who will get the happy side of the memory.

Quick Picks

  • College Football – MAACO Bowl Las Vegas – No. 18 Oregon State vs. No. 14 Brigham Young – These teams have played hard all season to get to this point.  A time to shine in the national spotlight.  See who comes to play and be the best and who just comes to be there.
  • NHL – San Jose Sharks at Chicago Blackhawks – Dec. 22 @ 8 pm – The number one and two teams square off to show who is the actual better.  Should be great hockey by both sides.
  • Check out Lebron showing a playful side during a recent game.  This is why we love this guy.
